updates

Haven't posted anything about the house in a long while. The summer's been pretty busy and we didn't have much time to blog. Can't believe we've been in the house for 6 months already! Anyways, I figured I would take a break from studying and catch up a little bit now.

When we first got our bedroom set, the largest bedsheets/comforter set that we had was a king and didn't quite fit the cal king matress correctly. Also, it was a little too "tropical" for our taste.

We didn't realize it would be so difficult to find cal king bedding in Ohio, but it was. We had to special order it from Bed, Bath and Beyond. The only store that carried the bedding we were looking for was in San Diego of all places, so they shipped it out to us. We love the bedding, however, so it was worth the hassle. My sister "lent" us a fan that looks great above our bed and matches our set really well. Thanks Manang Gie!

When I went back to CA to visit this summer, I picked up a cool looking chest, which goes well with the reddish wood, asian theme in our bedroom. It was a pain to get back to OH, but I've been looking for a box like this to put my candles and stuff into for months. It fit everything pretty well.

We finally got a ladder that allows us to change the lightbulbs in the entry hall chandelier and the ceiling fan in the living room. Peter even used it to go on the roof and check the shingles and make sure none of them flew away after the big thunder/lightning storms that we had this summer.

We also put in blinds in the upper living room windows. It really helps things stay cool, especially when the sun was beating down this summer. The blinds above the kitchen sink also helps keep out the sun. We didn't realize at first that the afternoon sun would shine through this window and hit the sensor on our thermostat in the dining room and cause the AC to turn on even though the inside of the house was cool.

We finally broke down and got direct-tv in time to start of the new season of shows. Actually we did watch the first episode of Desperate Housewives and Gray's Anatomy on the big tv using rabbit ears, cuz the satellite wasn't being installed until the following Tues. I'd have a real tough time getting any studying done if it wasn't for Tivo. Peter loves it cuz he can tape racing shows at 3 in the morning and then watch it while he eats breakfast. I love it cuz I can get my studying done and know my favorite shows are being recorded and I can watch it on the weekends and skip through the commercials. We've been hooked on this show called Lost. I wasn't going to watch it last night, but ended up doing so after reading. Ah well, at least we skipped through the 15min of commercials.
